Exporting Videos Like a Pro in DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve is one of the most powerful free video editing tools used by professionals worldwide. Known for its advanced color grading and editing features, DaVinci Resolve is also beginner-friendly when it comes to exporting. At Quality Thought Training Institute, we guide our students to not just edit well—but to export like a pro.
Why Export Settings Matter
Exporting a video isn't just clicking "Render." It's about choosing the right format, resolution, bitrate, and codec to ensure your final video:
- Looks sharp and clean
- Loads fast on platforms like YouTube or Instagram
- Doesn’t take up unnecessary storage
- Matches platform requirements
Step-by-Step Guide to Exporting in DaVinci Resolve
Go to the “Deliver” Page
This is DaVinci’s dedicated export interface.
Choose a Preset
DaVinci offers export presets for YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, and more. Choose one based on your platform.
Set Format and Codec
Format: MP4 or QuickTime
Codec: H.264 (great for web) or H.265 (for higher compression)
Resolution and Frame Rate
Match the export settings to your timeline. For HD videos, use 1920x1080 at 30fps. For 4K, use 3840x2160.
Set Output Location and Filename
Choose a folder to save your video. Naming it correctly helps in organizing revisions.
Add to Render Queue & Start Render
Click “Add to Render Queue,” then “Start Render.” Your video will now be processed and saved.
